The Hello Social Co. team switched up its weekly meeting this week and gave you an inside look on one component of our meeting – the What We’ve Learned portion! Check out the whole video here or read what each of us had to say below.

Updates to Facebook and Instagram’s Shopping Feature

This free and simple e-commerce system is now available through Facebook and Instagram and is much more customizable than its previous counterpart. To get yours set up, Facebook will send links to Page Managers as eligibility is determined. This update is expected to roll out even more features to make it easier for followers to shop right from your Facebook page including messaging businesses directly from shop listings via WhatsApp, Messenger or DM.

Copyrighted music ins and outs

Facebook is cracking down on the use of copyrighted music in live and recorded videos across Facebook and Instagram. Here’s a quick rundown on how you can avoid loss of sound of your videos or even having the video taken down:

  • There are no limits on things like music in Stories, or traditional musical performances (e.g. filming a live artist or band performing).

  • The greater the number of full-length recorded tracks in a video, the more likely it may be limited.

  • For that reason, shorter clips of music are recommended.

  • There should always be a visual component to your video; recorded audio should not be the primary purpose of the video.

The good news is, Facebook provides you with a library of royalty-free music that you can use without any worry of disruption in your videos.

Bye, trolls

Twitter is a place to spark conversation but sometimes trolls and “reply guys” get in the way of actually having a meaningful dialogue. Twitter launched a new update where users can now limit who interacts with their tweets. Choose to allow anyone, people you follow or only the people mentioned in the tweet to comment on your next tweet. People who can’t reply are still able to see, retweet and like the tweet, however.
