We’re hiring: Social Media Content Editor (Contract)

Hello Social Co. is a social-first content studio helping destinations, downtowns and community-minded organizations tell better stories. We’re looking for a freelance Social Media Content Editor to turn client photos, video footage and creative briefs into finished Reels, carousels and static social media graphics.

Our team will provide the strategy, post ideas, creative direction and source assets. You’ll bring the editing skills and creative judgment to make the finished content feel purposeful, engaging and right for each client. Your own concepts and ideas are welcome, too.

What you’ll do

  • Edit short-form vertical videos from supplied footage, incorporating thoughtful pacing, audio, on-screen text and subtitles as appropriate.
  • Design carousels and static graphics using supplied copy, photos, brand guidelines and creative direction.
  • Adapt your work to different client brands while maintaining a high standard of visual storytelling.
  • Suggest creative approaches that strengthen a post’s concept or help us make better use of existing assets.
  • Review finished pieces for spelling, readability, formatting and consistency before submitting them.
  • Incorporate consolidated feedback from the HSC team and deliver final exports and agreed-upon editable files.
  • Communicate clearly about project timelines, questions and availability.

What we’re looking for

  • Demonstrated experience editing short-form social media content, particularly Instagram Reels.
  • Strong graphic design skills, including an eye for typography, layout and visual consistency.
  • An understanding of how pacing, sequencing and text contribute to a story.
  • Proficiency in your preferred video editing tools and comfort working in Canva for shared design projects.
  • The ability to work from a brief, contribute ideas and meet agreed-upon deadlines.
  • Experience creating content for multiple brands or clients.

Experience with destinations, local businesses, community organizations or experience-based brands is a plus.

A portfolio of finished content is required. We’d like to see examples of Reels, carousels and static graphics, with a brief explanation of your role in creating each piece.

How we’ll work together

This is a remote, freelance opportunity with assignments based on client needs and your availability. You’ll work directly with the HSC team, which will provide creative briefs, assets and consolidated feedback. The scope, fee and deadline will be agreed upon before each assignment or batch of content begins.

The work focuses on editing and design. Photography, on-site filming, publishing and community management are outside the initial scope.

Compensation: Starting at $26 per hour, depending on experience, with the option to establish project or batch pricing as we build a working relationship.
