Position: Social Media Events Marketing Intern
Job Type: Internship (not for credit), contractor
Hours: 10 hours/week with additional hours on event days
Dates: May 8, 2023 – August 15, 2023, with the possibility to extend

Looking for an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and showcase your social media and marketing skills? We are currently seeking a Social Media Events Marketing Intern who is enthusiastic, outgoing, and loves to connect with people. As our ideal candidate, you thrive on attending social events and capturing the best moments to share with the world through social media.

In this role, you will be responsible for creating engaging and innovative social media content from various events around the Happy Valley region. You will play a key role in developing the marketing strategy for events, driving traffic and awareness, and positioning the events to be successful. This includes attending events to capture social media content and ensuring that post-event reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Pre-event Marketing
    • Assisting in marketing strategy for events
    • Assisting in positioning events as an experience
    • Driving traffic to increase awareness of the events
    • Brainstorming content ideas
    • Scheduling posts and writing social media content
  • Attend events around the Happy Valley region
    • Capturing photos and videos for social media content (such as posts, stories, and reels for Instagram and Facebook)
    • Posting social media content live while attending events
    • Interacting with event organizers, sponsors, and attendees
    • Positively represent the Hello Social Co. team
  • Post event marketing
    • Collecting data and creating reports

Requirements:
This is a part-time, hybrid contractor position (you will not be an employee). As a contractor you get to choose when and where you work (outside of event days), however, you should consider the following:

  • Availability on evenings and weekends to attend events is a must (you’ll know the dates ahead of time)
  • Our team meetings are every Monday morning (except holidays) at 11am EST on Google Meet 
  • Be available to work with our team 1-2 days/week from a coworking space in Bellefonte
  • A reliable car to drive to and from events around the Happy Valley region (mileage will be reimbursed) 
  • A smartphone with a good camera (for capturing social media content at events)
  • Access to a laptop and high-speed internet 

Additional requirements:

  • You’re comfortable and enjoy attending events with large crowds
  • You’re comfortable and enjoy interacting with a diverse group of people
  • You’re comfortable driving to and from events around the Happy Valley region
  • You’re comfortable standing and walking around events (for hours at a time) to capture social media content
  • You’re comfortable working outside in various weather conditions

Skills:

  • Experience using instagram to capture event content
  • Familiar with using Facebook
  • A eye for capturing compelling images and videos with a keen sense of visual composition
  • A People person 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong writing and editing skills

 

You should also be: 

  • A strong communicator (written and verbal)
  • Passionate about marketing and social media content creation
  • Passionate about photography and videography 
  • Willing to accept constructive feedback
  • Self-motivated and have the ability to work independently
  • Extremely reliable (you need to be able to attend all our schedule client events to capture content)
  • A people-person who is friendly and professional

  • Loom
  • Google Suite (Drive, Google Meet, Calendar etc)

Compensation: $15/hour + comped mileage
